We’ve compiled a definitive list to guide you to the perfect Christmas tree this holiday season:

  • The more branch "tips" the better! Your tree should mimic a real tree. If the center pole is clearly visible, Don’t Buy It!

  • Look for a high-quality, metal tree stand with rubber feet to prevent scratching your floor.

  • Buy a tree with "hinged" branch construction for easy setup. Don’t spend hours assembling a "hooked" tree.

  • When buying online, make sure retailer is using high-resolution photos, preferably with "super-zoom" so you can inspect the tree closeup. Don’t get cheated by a low-quality picture!

  • Look for clear lights and colored lights, or even better, a tree that has both! Premium retailers feature foot pedals and remote control for added convenience.

  • Avoid LED lights: they don’t emit the warm glow associated with tree lights.

  • Make sure lights are UL-approved and "twist-proof" to prevent burnouts.

  • Make sure light warranty is backed by the tree manufacturer. Otherwise, you’ll be passed on to a third party.

  • Trees can range fom 4-12 feet. The most common tree height is 7.5 feet.

  • Standard tree shape is "full". Smaller trees are called "narrow" or "slim".

  • When buying artificial wreaths or garlands for your home, make sure they match your tree. And when decorating outdoors, double-check the quality of lights so you know they’ll survive the cold and snow!

Remember: the more your artificial tree looks like the real thing, the more pleased you will be with the results of your purchase, so make absolutely sure you are getting what you pay for!
